Frequently asked questions

If you have any further questions check some of our FAQ's below.

  • What is an E-cigarette?

An electronic cigarette, e-cigarette, e-cig or vaporizer is a battery-powered device that provides inhaled doses of nicotine or non-nicotine vaporized solution. In addition to potential nicotine delivery, this vapour also provides a flavour and physical sensation similar to that of inhaled tobacco smoke, while no smoke or combustion is actually involved in its operation.

    Operation

The Nicovape QWIT. is activated when a user inhales through the mouthpiece of the device. Air flow is detected by a sensor, which activates a heating element that vaporizes the flavoured liquid solution stored in the QWIT.TIPS.

  • Can e-cigarettes help you quit smoking?

There is growing scientific evidence that vaping helps some people quit smoking. Personal vaporisers are now the most popular quitting aid in many countries including the United Kingdom and the United States.

Modern devices can provide the same levels of nicotine as tobacco cigarettes and can relieve urges to smoke and nicotine withdrawal symptoms such as irritability and loss of concentration. They also replicate the psychological and hand-to-mouth aspects of smoking.

Millions of smokers have reported quitting using a personal vaporiser in the UKUS and EU – over 6 million people reported quitting smoking with a vaporiser in the EU alone in 2014. Older devices are at least as effective as the nicotine patch. Newer devices deliver nicotine more effectively and have higher quit rates.

Vaping is most effective when it is used daily and after allowing some time to find the right device and e-liquid combination that works best for the user.

  • Is it legal to use e-cigarettes?

It is completely legal to use an e-cigarette in Australia so long as it doesn’t contain nicotine. If you want to use one which contains nicotine, you can only legally do so for the purpose of quitting smoking, and only if you have a prescription from a registered Australian medical practitioner. Nicotine can be imported from overseas under the TGA Personal Importation Scheme.

State laws regulate issues such as sale of nicotine, use in public places, age limits on sale, display and promotion of vaporisers. Regulations are different between jurisdictions and may change from time to time.

  • Who should use Nicovape products?

Nicovape e-cigarette products have been designed for existing smokers and e-cigarette users who are 18 years of age or older. We offer an innovative and less harmful alternative to traditional cigarettes. Though many people have successfully used these products in an effort to quit smoking, electronic cigarettes have not yet been approved by the TGA (Therapeutic Goods Administration) in Australia as devices designated for smoking cessation. We also advise that you consult your doctor before use, particularly if using nicotine inclusive varieties.

It should be noted that even though a recent medical study conducted by Public Health England found that e-cigarettes were 95% less harmful than traditional cigarettes, they are still more harmful than using nothing at all. If you are not currently a smoker, then it is not advised that you use an e-cigarette, especially with nicotine.

  • What is the Nicovape difference?

Due to our exclusive affiliation with Australian registered medical practitioners, Nicovape allows you to legally purchase and possess nicotine containing e-cigarettes in Australia.

Nicovape products are specifically designed to make the transition across to e-cigarettes as simple, convenient, and affordable as possible. Everything from our discounted subscription model, easy-to-use and affordable products, free shipping options, and right through to our proprietary online prescription service has been done with simplicity in mind.

Nicovape is the only certified e-cigarette provider currently available in Australia which is produced in an ISO7 and GMP certified laboratory using only the highest grade of certified raw ingredients. Even though e-cigarette liquids and devices are not yet regulated under Australian law, our laboratory located in San Francisco, USA meets all FDA standards, and places product quality and user safety as our highest priority.

  • Are e-cigarettes less harmful than normal cigarettes?

Vaping is not harmless, but there is overwhelming scientific agreement that it is far less harmful than smoking. The small health risks from vaping should be compared to the substantial risks from smoking. Up to two out of three long-term smokers will die prematurely from a smoking-related disease.

According to a recent independent study undertaken by Public Health England, e-cigarettes were found to be at least 20 times safer, or 95% less harmful than traditional cigarettes. This is not surprising as most of the harm from smoking is due to the tar, carbon monoxide and 7,000 other toxic chemicals produced by burning tobacco leaf. E-cigarettes do not contain tobacco and there is no combustion or smoke. Nearly all the harmful chemicals in tobacco smoke are not present in vapour at all, or are at very low levels. As a result, vaping is substantially less harmful than smoking.

long-term study funded by Cancer Research UK found that ex-smokers who now vape had 97.5% lower levels of NNAL, a chemical linked to cancer, and significantly lower levels of carcinogens in their system than continuous smokers. Almost all the harm from smoking is caused by the thousands of chemicals released by burning tobacco.

Even though they may be less harmful than traditional cigarettes, they are still more harmful than using nothing at all. If you are not currently a smoker, then it is not advised that you use e-cigarettes, especially with nicotine. Nicotine has been found to have negative effects on foetal development and brain development in adolescence, so it is strongly advised that any woman who is pregnant, likely to become pregnant, or breast-feeding consult their doctor before using our products.

  • What do I need to get started?

First, you will need to purchase our Nicovape QWIT. starter kit. This kit includes all the hardware you need including a vaporiser, charging cable, and replacement QWIT.TIPs. You will then need to decide which of our e-liquid flavours you wish to use, and which Nicotine strength is suitable for your needs.
